On Saturday 18thMay, RM Sports Events are delighted to bring you An Evening with Great Britain and St Helens, Rugby League Legends Paul Sculthorpe & Sean Long. This event is in association with local charity Firefly Cancer Awareness & Support. Our compere for the evening is the fantastic Pete Emmett.
PAUL SCULTHORPE– The only man in Rugby League to win consecutive Man of Steel Awards, ‘Scully’ had a fantastic career. A Lancashire lad, Paul started his professional career at Warrington in 1995 before moving to St. Helens in 1997 for a record-breaking fee of £375,000. During his career with The Saints, Paul made 247 professional appearances scoring in excess of 1,200 points for the club.
Sculthorpe quickly became one of the stars and faces of Rugby League during his time at St Helens and when representing both England and Great Britain. His career honors include 4 Challenge Cup Wins and 3 Super League Grand Final Wins.
In 2013, Paul Sculthorpe was quite right awarded an MBE for his services to Rugby League and to Charity.
On the night, Paul will talk us through his illustrious career as a domestic and international Rugby League legend before a Q&A session giving you the chance to ask the man himself a question.
SEAN LONG – With over career 300 appearances scoring over 2,100 points Sean Long was a prolific scrum-half. Despite starting his career at Wigan and a short-lived stint at Widnes, Sean is best known for his 12-year stint with St Helens. He is often referred to as one of the finest British players of his generation.
During his career, Sean won a total of Four Super League Championships, Five Challenge Cups and a number of individual accolades including three Lance Todd Trophies and the Man of Steel Award.
Sean played at the top level of Rugby League making 21 appearances for England and Great Britain. Since announcing his retirement in August 2011, Sean has turned his hand to coaching and is currently Assistant Coach at St. Helens.
